Whether you’re sipping on locally made wine, indulging in farm-fresh produce, or exploring scenic trails, there’s something for everyone. Pack your bags and get ready for a weekend of good food, breathtaking views, and laid-back country vibes—the Harvey Region is waiting to be explored!

Friday

Vineyard 28

As you make your way south, stop at Vineyard 28, conveniently located off Forrest Highway. Described as a “little trip to Italy”, you will be greeted by owners, Pippa and Mark, who offer a selection of wine experiences to discover the vineyard.

If you’re looking to fully immerse yourself, we recommend the ’28’ Wine and Grazing Experience. For $35 per person, you’ll sample their entire collection of available wines accompanied by a grazing board of local produce.

Head to Myalup or Binningup Beach to take in the Region’s exquisite coastline. Walk up to the Valentine Beach Lookout for panoramic views, just off Valentine Road.

Veer further along to Old Coast Road and walk along the Estuary or the Australind Jetty. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins.

Treendale Farm Hotel

Feeling hungry? Head to a local favourite, the Treendale Farm Hotel, for a selection of pub classics and local beverage options. A must-try is their steak sandwich, which was named Country WA’s Best Steak Sandwich in 2024.

Weekends can be busy as the Farm hosts events and shows sports on its screens, so make sure to book a table to avoid being disappointed.

Saturday

Start the morning connecting to nature along the Wildflower Ridge Walking Trail. This 1.4km trail showcases 360 degrees of picturesque views. To the left, look out over the hills to the Harvey Dam and pine plantations, while to the west, enjoy the sweeping views across the coastal plains to the ocean. During Wildflower season, enjoy the riotous colours of the many native flowers that bloom along this trail.

If a morning hike isn’t your thing, head to Stirling Cottage Gardens to wander through the impressive grounds and orange trees. Relax and enjoy a coffee inside Stirling Cottage Kitchen, a replica of the home both Governor Sir James Stirling and Australian author May Gibbs lived in.

Melville Park

Head to Brunswick to the historical Melville Park, which opens its doors to its Farm Shop every Saturday between 9am and noon. This heritage farm symbolises some of the earliest farming in the Brunswick area, with the Flaherty family settling there in 1849. The current owners are working on revitalising Melville Park, growing heirloom vegetables and herbs, grazing cattle and dairy cows, making artisanal cheeses and working hard to open a distillery.

Settle into a cosy afternoon by stopping at GeoVino Wine Bar along Harvey’s quaint main strip. On Saturdays, the wine bar is open from 10am to 4pm and serves a wide range of local wines and beers. Indulge in a drop while enjoying a local cheese board and perusing their range of homewares and gift items.

If your hunger is still not satiated, we recommend heading south to Wokalup, only a 5-minute drive from Harvey, and checking out Brugan Brewery. This independent brewery prides itself on serving menu items ‘paddock to plate,’ creating dishes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Sunday

Fuel up for your final day in the Region by heading out for breakfast. We recommend checking out Benesse in Australind or The Curious Cockatoo in Harvey.

Harvey River Estate

Now that you’re energised, head to Harvey River Estate to see the iconic Big Orange. Positioned on top of a 10-metre tower, you can walk up to the lookout inside the orange and take in the incredible view. Access to the orange is a gold coin donation that goes to Telethon.

Old Coast Road Brewery

Before heading home, have lunch at Old Coast Road Brewery, a welcoming brewery, cidery and distillery just off Forrest Highway. Get comfortable on the deck, unwind, or indulge in some friendly competition at their 18-hole mini golf course onsite. Each hole represents an iconic Australian attraction, so you can learn while you play.
