This is a place of white equestrian fences. This is horse country, especially around Harvey, Myalup, Yarloop, Cookernup and Leschenault.
It all started in the 1830s when Australind was selected as a place to breed horses for the British India Army. The area continues to be home to horse lovers, horse trainers, studs, schools, equestrian events, and horse trails and tours.
Horse Riding Trails
Bring your horse on a holiday and enjoy a day or more on the 10th Light Horse Bridle Trail or within the Myalup Pines Horse Trails.
Equestrian Events
Every year, Harvey hosts the South West Horse Trials Eventing Grand Prix at Stanton Park. The course is one of the most undulating and challenging in the state.
Horse Riding Schools and Clubs
The Harvey Region is home to a range of equestrian clubs, including Riding For the Disabled Harvey, the South West Horse Trials Club, the Yarloop Equestrian Association, and the Log Fence Pony Club.
