Escape to Vineyard 28 winery and cellar door and uncover a ‘Little Italy of Wine. Only 1½ hours’ drive south of Perth, Vineyard 28 is conveniently located just off the Forrest Highway, approximately 5km south of Preston Beach, in the Geographe Wine Region.

Meet Mark and Pippa, pioneers of WA’s Italian grape variety. They offer personal guided experiences for wine enthusiasts.

Italian grape varieties are their passion. Alongside the more well-known varieties, Vineyard 28 is proud to offer a selection of its handcrafted wines for you to enjoy.

Their wines, including Pignoletto, Arneis, Fiano, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Moscato, are produced from vines growing at Vineyard 28, Wildwater, and Rusty’s Block vineyards. Mark makes each wine to showcase the best of the varietal and the terroir, and to be paired well with food.

Vineyard 28 offers a range of wine-tasting experiences, from a personal guided wine tasting to the more comprehensive “28” Grazing & Tasting experience to the fully immersive Taste of Italy Tour. Vineyard 28 also collaborates with local company Picnic Cheer to provide a memorable outdoor grazing experience.

All experiences are offered by appointment only. Bookings in advance are highly recommended to ensure the best wine-tasting experience.

Wine Experiences start at $10 per person.

Wine Tasting and Tour Experiences

Vineyard 28’s cellar door operates Thursday to Monday – 10am to 5pm – Bookings and Appointments are highly recommended. “Walk-Ins’ are available if there is capacity.

Vineyard 28 is dog friendly, as long as your furry friend is well behaved and doesn’t mind being on a lead. There are outdoor areas that you can ‘park’ your beloved whilst enjoying a wine experience. If seated outdoors, your furry friend is welcome to join you.

Note: Vineyard 28 will be closed from Tuesday, 11 August, reopening on 4 September 2026.

    A Taste of Italy – Vineyard and Winery Experience

    For those looking to immerse themselves in all things wine.

    Your journey starts at the cellar door, where the Award-Winning winemaker – Mark Cumbers will greet you and introduce you to this Italian adventure here in Geographe.

    Walk in the vineyard and get to understand how grapes are grown, then into the winery to see behind the scenes and learn how grapes are made into wine. Taste and learn how wines are aged in barrels.

    The tour concludes at the Cellar Door, with a personally guided wine tasting by the winemaker, accompanied by a ‘28’ Grazing Board : Laden with delicious morsels of local produce – cheese, charcuterie, olives, relish, dips, seasonal fruits Turkish Bread, and Homemade gourmet crackers. (Gluten Free option available).

    Allow 2 – 2.5 hours for this experience.   Only available: 10.30 am – Thursday to Monday. Bookings in advance are essential.

    ‘28’ Standard Wine Tasting

    A relaxed and informative guided wine tasting, including current release wines, featuring the unique Italian varietals that thrive in the Geographe Wine Region alongside a couple of familiar favourites.

    Every bottle has a story, you’ll be taken behind the label to share the inspiration, the vineyard, and the winemaking philosophy that make each wine distinctive.

    There are no complicated wine terms or intimidating rituals—just great wine, genuine conversation and the chance to discover something new.

    The tasting includes:

    • A guided tasting of the current release wines.
    • Insights into the vineyard, Italian varieties and winemaking.
    • The opportunity to purchase your favourite wines to enjoy at home.

    Allow approx. 45minutes to 1 hour.

    ’28’ Wine & Grazing Experience

    Immerse yourself in all things Vineyard 28 and sample the full collection of wines available, in an in-depth comparative-style tasting.  Tasting notes will be provided, with Mark or Pippa guiding you through the tasting, or enjoy the tasting at your own pace.  Plus spin some vinyl on the turntable from the eclectic record collection of the owners.

    The wines are paired with a sumptuous grazing board, compiled of local cheeses, preserves and fresh produce.  Cheeses, charcuterie, mixed olives, seasonal relish, pickled veggies, dip and fresh fruits, accompanied by a selection of crackers and Turkish bread. (Gluten Free option available.)

    ‘28’ Vino e Patatine

    Who says wine tasting has to be serious? Ditch the quiet swirling rooms, and enjoy a delightfully untraditional, flavour-packed celebration of great Italian wines and… humble potato chips.

    Five of of Vineyard 28’s vibrant, Italian varietals: Pignoletto • Arneis • Fiano • Dolcetto • Nebbiolo, are  paired perfectly with a curated selection of premium potato chips.

    It’s about belly laughs, surprising your palate, and realising that the best wine pairing is simply what makes you happy!

    Price: $25 per person

    Allow: 1 to 1.5 hours for this experience.
