Winter in the Harvey Region is a feast for the senses – and we mean that literally.
As the temperature drops, our local cafes, restaurants, wineries and distilleries step up with winter menus that comfort the soul. From slow-cooked classics and creamy pastas to mulled wines, tasty gin, and rich desserts, this season’s offerings are all about warming you from the inside out. This is your guide to embracing the cooler season with open arms and an empty belly.
Brugan Brewery
Brugan Brewery, which prides itself on serving up dishes from paddock to plate, has spiced up its winter menu with all the local goodness. Some new additions include baked Melville Park camembert, Harvey Beef cheek rendang and a hearty Thai yellow vegetable curry. If small town pub charm is more your style, head to the front of the venue to the Wokalup Tavern, serving the same great food, a crackling fireplace and that cosy atmosphere you crave this time of year.
Old Coast Road Brewery
If you’re after some friendly competition to accompany your meal, check out Old Coast Road Brewery. This family-friendly spot features an 18-hole mini golf course perfect for an after-lunch activity. Their new winter menu features irresistible bites, including a delicious butter chicken, lamb bites, and crumbed button mushrooms. For something refreshing, try their new orange and mandarin spritz, made from local citrus, offering the perfect combination of zesty and refreshing – and if we’ve not convinced you enough, they’ve just started serving up mulled wine as well.
Benesse
Australind’s local hotspot, Benesse, is serving up warm breakfast and lunch favourites to keep you satisfied during the winter. In addition to their everyday classics, including hot toasties, brunch bowls and great coffee, their winter menu welcomes fresh soup with ciabatta, soul-warming porridge, and Mexican loaded fries. If you have a sweet tooth, give their Biscoff latte a try for some creamy coffee goodness.
St Duke’s Distillery
Nothing warms the heart like a sip of gin – and St Duke’s Distillery is serving up something special. Nestled alongside the iconic Harvey Cheese, this innovative distillery is the first of its kind in Western Australia, crafting award-winning gins and vodkas from an unexpected source: cow’s milk whey, a by-product of their sister company’s cheesemaking process. Infused with locally grown botanicals, each spirit offers a smooth flavour that’s uniquely Harvey. Settle in for a tasting and complete the experience with a Harvey Cheese plate that pairs perfectly with your pour.
Brunswick Tavern
Representing everything good about wholesome country hospitality is the Brunswick Tavern. Serving up your favourite pub classics by a roaring fireplace, this is the perfect spot for rainy winter dinner plans.
Miami Bakehouse Myalup
Whether you’re passing through or staying for a while, Miami Bakehouse Myalup is a must-visit for a selection of baked goods and delicious pies. They use the finest locally sourced Western Australian ingredients to create award-winning pies and unique pie flavours. If the weather allows, dine outside under the shady trees surrounded by their famous KangaArt.
