Bring your new tourism accommodation development to life with funding from new Unique Tourist Accommodation Proposals (UTAP) program by Tourism WA.
Tourism WA, in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), has launched an exciting funding opportunity through the National Park Tourism Experiences Development (NPTED) Program.

This initiative is designed to support businesses and individuals in developing unique short-stay accommodation within or near WA’s breathtaking national parks, marine parks, and conservation areas. With up to $100,000 in funding available per project, this program aims to drive sustainable tourism and enhance the diversity of visitor experiences across the state. The Harvey Region is home to three eligible national and conservation parks including:
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to individuals, privately owned businesses, and commercial organisations with an Australian Business Number (ABN) that are primarily funding their project through private capital. Eligible projects must:
✔ Meet the definition of unique accommodation, offering guests an unconventional and memorable experience.
✔ Support sustainable visitation to national, marine, or conservation parks.
✔ Be a new tourism accommodation development.
✔ Demonstrate financial capability and progress in project planning.
✔ Have land ownership or permissions secured for the proposed development.
✔ Comply with the Shire of Harvey’s local planning scheme. More information can be found here
What Can the Funding Be Used For?
While the program does not cover construction costs, it provides crucial financial support for necessary feasibility studies and assessments, such as:
- Site surveys
- Environmental and geotechnical reports
- Cultural heritage and traditional owner engagement
- Hydrology and coastal assessments
- Master planning and bushfire risk assessments
Applicants must submit at least two written quotations from qualified professionals for each study or assessment requested

Applications are assessed based on experience, sustainability, uniqueness, commercial viability, and the significance of government support in delivering the project.
