The Harvey Region Tourism Industry Sundowner held at Harvey’s Boola Bidi Dreaming Centre on Thursday, 3 April 2025, was a special evening of cultural education, connection, and networking.
Set on Bindjareb Noongar Country, the event brought together more than 30 local businesses, tourism operators, and stakeholders from across the Harvey Region to share ideas, explore new opportunities, and experience the region’s deep cultural roots. The industry was fortunate to be joined by David Bolt MLA, newly elected Member for Murray-Wellington.
The evening began with a powerful Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country delivered by cultural leaders Brad Vitale and Lesley Ugle, who provided a warm insight into this ancient cultural practice.
Following the ceremony, guests were taken on a virtual tour of the Boola Bidi Dreaming Centre by Lesley, who shared stories of the Centre’s journey and emphasised the importance of preserving and sharing Noongar culture.
The Boola Bidi Dreaming Centre is the tourism brand of the Harvey Aboriginal Corporation, dedicated to offering immersive, authentic cultural experiences on Noongar land and showcases a range of unique tourism experiences including cultural tours, bush food and medicine workshops, yarning circles, artefact making, and more.
The evening included the launch of the Harvey Region Image & Video Library by the Destination Harvey Region team. This free resource is live on the Harvey Region Tourism Corporate website and is available for event organisers, local businesses, community organisations, trade, and media partners. The digital content library provides hundreds of professional, free images and videos, accessible 24/7, for noncommercial, positive promotion of the Harvey Region.
