Harvey Harvest Shopfront Competition

Bring festivity to Harvey for a chance to win up to $1000!

The Shire of Harvey invites local businesses located in Harvey and Wokalup to participate in decorating their front-facing windows or entryways in celebration of the spirit of the Harvey Harvest Festival.

The Shire encourages participants to make orange the central theme, and to incorporate elements such as local produce and cultural connections (e.g., Aboriginal, Italian, Filipino) that relate to the theme of harvesting.

The competition is free to enter and will run from Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March 2026, aligning with the Harvey Harvest Festival.

Winners will be announced on Monday 9 March 2026 with a photo of their display shared on the Shire’s social media. First prize will receive $1000 and second prize will receive $250.

FAQs

Who can enter?
Any current business or commercial building owner that is situated within the Harvey town centre and/or on South Western Highway (Harvey or Wokalup), has a shopfront accessible to the public, and is not an Excluded Entity.

What is an excluded entity?
– Shire of Harvey Elected Members and staff
– State and/or Federal Government agencies

How much does it cost to enter?
Entry is free.

How do I enter?
You must register your participation online by the advertised closing date Friday 27 February 2026.

When does the competition run?
Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March 2026, aligned with the Harvey Harvest Festival (Friday 6 March to Sunday 8 March 2026).

When do I need to have my display finished?
Displays must be completed by Monday 2 March 2026.

What should my display include?
Displays should celebrate the spirit of the Harvey Harvest Festival. Using orange as the central theme is encouraged, along with harvest elements such as local produce, and cultural connections (where relevant). Displays must be family friendly and suitable for public viewing.

How will entries be judged?
A panel appointed by the Promoter will judge based on:

  • Creativity
  • Adherence to theme
  • Visual impact
  • Overall presentation

The judges’ decision is final.

What are the prizes?

  • First Prize: $1,000
  • Second Prize: $250
    Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.

When and how are winners announced?
Winners will be announced Monday 9 March 2026. Winners will be contacted by phone or email and announced via Shire communication channels (including Facebook).

Will photos of my display be used for promotion?
By entering, you agree the Promoter may use your business name and images/photographs of your display for promotional purposes.

What if my display is damaged or something goes missing?
Displays are exhibited at the entrant’s own risk. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for loss, theft, or damage (including vandalism or weather impacts).

Can my display be removed or refused?
Yes. The Promoter may require withdrawal of any display considered offensive, inappropriate, unsafe, unlawful, or unsuitable for public display.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Promoter

The promoter of the Harvey Harvest Festival – Shop Shopfront Competition 2026 is the Shire of Harvey, 61 Uduc Road, Harvey WA 6220 (“Promoter”).

2. Acceptance of Terms
Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. Information on how to enter and details of prizes form part of these Terms & Conditions.

3. Eligibility
To enter, entrants must:
a. Be a current business or commercial building owner situated within the Harvey town centre and/or on South Western Highway (in Harvey or Wokalup);
b. Have a shopfront accessible to the public; and
c. Not be considered an Excluded Entity (see clause 4).

4. Excluded Entities
The following are not eligible to enter the competition:
a. Shire of Harvey Elected Members and staff; and
b. State and/or Federal Government agencies.

5. Entry Requirements
a. Entry is free.
b. Entrants must register their participation by the advertised closing date.
c. Displays must be completed by the date specified by the Promoter.
d. Displays should celebrate the spirit of the Harvey Harvest Festival. We encourage participants to make orange the central theme, and to incorporate elements such as local produce, and cultural connections (e.g., Aboriginal, Italian, Filipino) that relate to the theme of harvesting. e. Displays must be suitable for public viewing and family friendly. 

No responsibility will be accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries.

6. Competition Period
The competition will run from Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March 2026, aligning with the Harvey Harvest Festival, which takes place from Friday 6 March to Sunday 8 March 2026. 

a. Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by the Promoter.
b. Judging will be based on creativity, adherence to theme, visualimpact and overall presentation.
c. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. Prizes
There are two (2) prizes to be won: 

  • First Prize: $1,000 
  • Second Prize: $250 

Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.

8. Winner Notification
Winners will be announced on Monday 9 March 2026.  

Winners will be notified directly by phone or email and announced via Shire of Harvey communication channels, including Facebook.

9. Promotion and Photography
By entering, entrants agree to the use of their business name, images of their display and photographs taken during the competition for promotional purposes without compensation.

10. Privacy
Information provided by entrants will be used solely for the purpose of conducting the competition and will be managed in accordance with the Shire of Harvey’s privacy obligations.

11. Content Standards and Right of Removal
The Promoter reserves the right to refuse, remove or require the withdrawal of any display that it considers offensive, inappropriate, unsafe, unlawful or otherwise unsuitable for public display. 

This includes, but is not limited to, content that is discriminatory, political, sexual, violent or likely to cause offence to members of the community. The Promoter is not required to provide reasons for exercising this right.

12. Display at Entrant’s Own Risk
All displays are exhibited at the entrant’s own risk. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for the safety, security or preservation of any display while it is on display.

13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss, theft or damage to displays, whether caused by vandalism, weather conditions or any other factors beyond the Promoter’s control. 

14. Privacy – Collection Notice
The Shire of Harvey is committed to compliance with the Privacy Act 1988. Personal information (including images) collected will be used for Council business purposes related to this competition and will not be disclosed to third parties unless required by law. 

15. Additional Conditions 

  • Entries must not defame, infringe copyright, invade privacy or breach any applicable laws. 
  • Entrants must enter using their own business or personal details only. 
  • The Promoter reserves the right to amend, cancel or suspend the competition if required.
