Just 90 minutes south from Perth, you’ll find the spectacular Harvey Region. A place of endless beaches, rolling hills, outdoor adventures and amazing local produce. Comprising the localities of Harvey, Australind, Leschenault, Myalup, Binningup, Brunswick Junction, Cookernup, Yarloop, Wokalup, Benger and Roelands.
The new bucket list map features just 31 of the many reasons to visit the Harvey Region, but there is always plenty more to discover. Some of the highlights include:
Nature & Adventure
- Lake Brockman – A sparkling blue lake set among lush green forest is calling your name. Lake Brockman is the perfect spot for camping, glamping or a day of water sports.
- Wildflower Ridge Walk – Wander through a riotous bloom of native flowers as you enjoy breath-taking views of the Harvey Dam and sweeping scenes of the coastal plains.
- Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park – Only minutes from Australind, the Leschenault Peninsula has a stunning location between the Indian Ocean and the serene Leschenault Estuary. Experience endless white beaches, great fishing, bush walking, camping, wildlife and a unique Indian history.
Eat & Drink
- Treendale Farm Hotel – Hungry yet? Officially Australia’s Best Family Dining experience, if you need a feed, The Farm is the place to be. Bring your appetite because this pub does it BIG!
- Geovino – A beverage and foodies dream! Stock up on local wines, craft beers and gourmet cheeses, pate, olives, giftwares and more. Enjoy a glass of wine, refreshing gin or a delicious beer with charcuterie boards while you shop.
- Brugan Brewery – Craft beer drinkers can’t go past Brugan. The microbrewery uses locally produced hops in their brews and serves some of the best meals in the Region.
Arts, Culture & Heritage
- Stirling Cottage Gardens & May Gibbs – Find an enchanting garden, mini orchard and the Stirling Cottage Kitchen tearooms – a replica of the 1850s cottage that was home to Governor Sir James Stirling and the creator of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, author May Gibbs.
- The Boola Bidi Dreaming Centre & Noongar Kaartdijin Trail – Immerse yourself in the ancient Noongar culture with workshops, guided walking tours and cultural ceremonies. Check out the wares in the retail store and then venture under the Harvey River Bridge to experience the Noongar Kaartdijin Bidee Trail.
- Featured Wood Gallery & Museum – A wondrous place of fine wood craftsmanship combined with a unique Australia and American history museum. There is a larger-than-life display on Ned Kelly and much more.
Local Produce
- Melville Park & Friends Farm Shop – This historic farm dating to the mid-1880s on the banks of the Brunswick River has a produce-driven shop with heirloom vegetables, decadent cheese and much more. Open every Saturday morning.
- Harvey Cheese & St Dukes Distillery – A cheese-lovers paradise is awaiting you in Wokalup! Pop in for a free tasting of their famous handmade cheese and browse a range of local gourmet goodies. Adjacent, you will find the St Duke’s Distillery, and the perfect accompaniment to cheese.
- Henton Cottage & Australind Artisans Collective – Uncover history, art and craft. The State Heritage Listed Henton Cottage (1841) is part of the original Australind Settlement and home to Australind Artisan Collective. Across the road is Saint Nicholas Anglican Church (1840s), the smallest and cutest church in Western Australia.
