Rosamel Wetlands

Rosamel Wetlands is a small but significant wetland reserve in Parkfield, only a 10-minute drive north of Australind.

This water bird sanctuary, roosting and nesting area is always teaming with bird life and consists of a small wetland lake with a forested island in the middle. Some varieties you may see include:

  • Black swan
  • Shelduck
  • Pacific black duck
  • Sacred ibis
  • Great egret.

A Level 1 (easy), scenic, one-kilometre Wetland Wonders Walk circles the lake. The walking trail includes interpretive information about the area’s rich diversity of plant and small animal life.

The wetlands once formed a part of Rosamel Farm.
