10th Light Horse Regiment Commemorative Artwork

10th Light Horse Regiment Commemorative Artwork
The 10th Light Horse Regiment Commemorative Artwork is an impressive mosaic statue of a trooper in full battle uniform mounted on a galloping horse and carrying the troop’s black and gold banner located immediately outside the Brunswick Memorial Hall on South West Highway.

Installed in 2013 by the Brunswick Lions Club, the impetus for the project came from a very generous donation from Mr Roger Edwards of nearby Wellesley. Roger served in the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment (AIF) from 1941 until 1944. His story is told within a booklet called A Trooper’s Story, published in 1993.

Bunbury artist Rocheen Navaro was commissioned to design and create the 2.9 life-size artwork. The result is a unique and colourful piece that complements and enhances Brunswick’s streetscape.

When completed, the mosaic statue cost about $30,000.
