Sutton House – Kilrea 1913

Sutton House – Kilrea 1913
Sutton House (private residence) sits on land originally purchased by Robert Tennant Stowe Wolfe, of the Wolfe Creek Meteorite fame.

It was later sold to Samuel Dunn Buckby, farm manager for the original Harvey and Hayward Estate, before ownership was transferred to William Sutton and his wife, Florence (nee Logue), from Jardup Farm.

Originally called Kilrea, the Federation cottage with a striped roof was constructed in c1913.

Sutton was a member of the Brunswick Road Board and also served in the 18th Australian Light Horse. His mother, Jane McLarty, grew up on the National Trust property, Old Blythewood estate near Pinjarra.
