Woodley Lake

Woodley Lake is located on the corner of Braidwood Drive and Holbrook Road in Kingston Estate residential area, Australind.

The lake is surrounded by a grassed reserve and a walking path perfect for a stroll in nature.

History

Woodley Lake was once a part of one of Australind’s first agriculture properties, Ditchingham Farm.

The Farm was established by Dr Charles and Eldred Bedingfield [sic Bedingfeld] and then, James Piggott.

Later, the Woodley family, whom the lake is named after, managed and lived at Ditchingham Farm for many years.

Charles Woodley arrived in 1851 on the ship Pyrenees as Convict Number 469.  He was granted a conditional pardon in 1853.

Charles married Emma Gardiner who came to Australind on the Trusty with her family as an 8-year-old. They had 11 children whose descendants still live in the Region today.
