Karragarup Play Space

The Karragarup Play Space at the Ridley Place Foreshore is a nature play space overlooking the Leschenault Estuary. In the Noongar language, Karragarup means ‘place of the crabs’; you can’t miss the awesome crabs in this playground!

The name recognises the north-eastern area of the estuary, which was known as an essential source of crab for the Wardandi Noongar people.

Overlooking the calm waters of the Leschenault Estuary, the play space provides various interactive play opportunities for children of all ages. The centre of the playground features a large Blue Manna crab play structure with a water misting feature and lights. The whole playground has a coastal Australian theme, from giant banksia flower climbing frames to a jetty with a dinghy.

A very popular zipline or flying fox is towards the Leschenault Estuary side of the playground.

There is also a cubby structure inspired by the Avicennia Marina, or grey mangrove.

Kids will also enjoy scrambling over a balancing rope course.
