Woodley Lake
- Braidwood Drive, Australind WA 6233, Australia
- Open 24 Hours
A grassed reserve and a walking path surround the lake, perfect for a stroll in nature.
Woodley Lake was once a part of one of Australind’s first agriculture properties, Ditchingham Farm.
The Farm was established by Dr Charles and Eldred Bedingfield [sic Bedingfeld] and then James Piggott.
Later, the Woodley family, after whom the lake is named, managed and lived at Ditchingham Farm for many years.
Charles Woodley arrived on the Pyrenees in 1851 as Convict Number 469. He was granted a conditional pardon in 1853.
Charles married Emma Gardiner, who came to Australind on the Trusty with her family as an 8-year-old. They had 11 children whose descendants still live in the Region today.
