Mission Hall Wesleyan Methodist Church 1895 Historic Site

Mission Hall Wesleyan Methodist Church 1895 Historic Site
Built in 1895, the Wesleyan Methodist Church, commonly known as Mission Hall, was the first public building in Harvey.

Along with Methodist and Catholic church services, it was used for public meetings, including Harvey’s Agriculture and Road boards.

It was constructed behind Sutton House (56 Uduc Road, Harvey) with a succession of busy bees organised by Messrs Knowles, James Clarke, James Taylor, and WJ Sutton, on land donated by Sutton forming part of his newly purchased town plot.

It was consecrated as a Wesleyan Church and the opening services were conducted in September 1895 by the Rev. AC Plain of Bunbury.

The church was demolished at a later date.
