Concrete Sofa – Harvey

Find a playful seat! Harvey’s Concrete Sofa is part of the ‘Take Your Seat Project’, with concrete artisan seats located throughout the Harvey and Peel regions.

Coordinated by Christina McGuinness and designed by Peter Dailey, each sofa weighs 2.4 tonnes.

Funded by Alcoa and the Fremantle Arts Centre as part of the Art in the Community Project 2000, the ‘Take Your Seat’ project created a trail of sculptural sofas through Mandurah, Dwellingup, Waroona, Harvey, Yarloop, Bunbury, Rockingham, and Kwinana.

Each sofa was decorated in collaboration with local organisations and artistically tells the unique stories of its region.

Artist Anthea Ward painted Harvey’s ‘Take Your Seat’ concrete sofa, working with schools, individuals and groups in the area, creating a series of postage stamps that celebrate the flowers, animals, people, pets, homes and businesses of the area.

It’s all about what’s happening in Harvey when it was completed in 2000.
