Scrap Iron Alley Historic Site

Scrap Iron Alley Historic Site
Scrap Iron Alley in Yarloop was located between the Yarloop Workshops and School Road.

When the famous Workshops were operational, the area was stacked with disused machinery and locomotives kept mainly for spare parts. Scrap merchants also bought and removed the scrap during the 1950s. Hence, the name Scrap Iron Alley.

Scrap Alley was crisscrossed with railway lines used for shunting engines. Though not safe, it was a place where children spent many hours playing.

At one stage, there were also mill houses located in this area which, over time, were demolished or transported to other locations.

Part of this area is now the beautiful One Tree Park.
