St John Ambulance Harvey Sub Centre
St John WA is a charitable, non-profit, humanitarian organisation teaching first aid to the community, delivering the State’s ambulance service with sub-branches, including Harvey.
In 2021, Harvey opened a new Sub Centre. Besides emergency services, the state-of-the-art facility provides purpose-built on-site accommodation, training and specialised debriefing areas to accommodate the increasing number of St John WA volunteers in Harvey.
St John WA attends over 1,300 call-outs each year in Harvey and surrounding areas, with 42 volunteers dedicating their time and skills to the local community. After 88 years of volunteer service, since 2023, the Harvey Sub Branch has operated a hybrid paramedic model with paid paramedics working alongside volunteers.
St John’s purpose is to serve humanity and build resilient communities by relieving sickness, distress, suffering, and danger.
They do this by:
- Making first aid a part of everyone’s life.
- Delivering high-quality cost-effective ambulance services to West Australians.
- Providing appropriate, timely, and equitable access to the health system for unscheduled care.
