Old Harvey Post Office & Exchange 1923

Old Harvey Post Office & Exchange 1923
Located within the Harvey Railway Station Precinct, the old Harvey Post Office and Telephone Exchange was Harvey’s fourth post office.

This heritage building was constructed in 1923 and used as the Post Office until 1957. It also housed the Harvey telephone switch board which local businesses and district people depended upon to communicate with others.

The switchboard was in a small room off to the left on the main counter where the first narrow window is located. The mail sorting room was in the room behind a very long counter.

In later years, the building was used by the Harvey SES until more recent times.

Mum used to weigh us once a month at the Post Office for one penny.
