Short-Term Rental Accommodation Register
The Short-Term Rental Accommodation Register (STRA) is a WA Government initiative designed to help build a clearer, data-informed understanding of the short-term accommodation sector across Western Australia.
While some accommodation providers are required to register, we also encourage hosted accommodation providers, caravan parks and other short-stay operators to connect their booking platforms where possible. Better industry data helps create a more accurate picture of visitor accommodation across the Harvey Region — not just un-hosted properties listed on major platforms.
If you use booking platforms such as Airbnb, Stayz, Vrbo or Booking.com, your STRA registration and booking information can often be linked automatically through the system integration. This reduces manual administration, keeps your information up to date and supports industry-wide tourism data collection.
Why connect your accommodation to STRA?
- Help improve tourism and accommodation data across the Harvey Region
- Reduce manual reporting through automatic platform integration
- Keep your booking and registration information up to date
- Support informed, data-driven tourism planning and decision-making
- Increase visibility through recognised accommodation booking platforms
- Simplify compliance and administration processes
Using connected booking platforms also helps travellers discover and book accommodation more easily, while supporting a stronger understanding of the region’s full visitor economy.
If you operate an un-hosted STRA property, you are also required to submit a Development Application (DA) to the Shire of Harvey. More information can be found through the Shire of Harvey Short-Term Rental Accommodation process.
