DESCRIPTION:Honouring our ANZAC military legends!\nThe ANZAC Victoria Cross Story is an exhibition designed to honour Australia’s and New Zealand’s Victoria Cross recipients. \nIt has two primary purposes: \n\nto pay tribute to the military legends of our country\, and\nto educate and inform the public on the deeds of these men and the legacy they paid to their countries afterwards.\n\nThe Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest military honour for bravery in wartime awarded to members of the armed forces. It remains a powerful symbol of bravery and sacrifice\, with stories like that of Albert Jacka continuing to inspire future generations and exemplifying extraordinary valour during World War I. The legacy of these heroes is preserved through various memorials and exhibitions\, ensuring that their acts of valour are never forgotten. \nThe Victoria Cross was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1856. It is the highest honour for military gallantry in the British and Commonwealth armed forces. The medal is cast in bronze and features a lion atop a crown\, with the inscription “FOR VALOUR.” Each medal is inscribed with the recipient’s name\, rank\, unit\, and the date of the act of bravery. \nOnly 123 Australian and New Zealand soldiers have received the Victoria Cross\, highlighting the significance of this honor. \nAlbert “Bert’ Jacka was the first Australian to be awarded the Victoria Cross during World War I. He earned this prestigious medal for his remarkable bravery at Gallipoli\, where he single-handedly captured a Turkish trench during a counter-attack. Jacka’s actions not only exemplified the spirit of the ANZAC but also earned him a reputation as one of Australia’s most respected soldiers. He continued to serve valiantly on the Western Front\, receiving multiple honours for his bravery. \nThe ANZAC Victoria Cross Story exhibition by Tony Banner aims to honor all recipients through a mobile exhibition that tells their stories. This exhibition features panels for each recipient\, with a variety of physical and electronic displays showcasing their biographies and contributions to military history. SUMMARY:Eaton Head Race on the Brunswick & Collie Rivers
DESCRIPTION:Eaton Head River Race is one of Western Australia’s valued long‑distance rowing events.\nThe race dates back to the early- to mid‑1990s. \nSet on the picturesque Brunswick and Collie Rivers\, the race traditionally starts at their junction and showcases the endurance and skill of crews over a true head‑style course. \nOriginally contested as a handicap event for sculls\, pairs and fours\, the race later expanded to include eights\, reflecting the growth of participation and community interest. The University of Western Australia is believed to have claimed the inaugural victory\, setting the tone for a strong inter‑club rivalry that continues today. \nWith the exception of a break of approximately seven years between 1995 and 2025\, the Eaton Head Race has been run almost every year since its inception. A highlight of the event is the presentation of the “Bill Cooper Perpetual Trophy\, Bunbury Head race for scullers” awarded to the first sculler to cross the line. \n \n  \n \n
